November

THINGS TO EXPECT:
LEAF DROP is induced by the shortening days and cooling nights temperatures of fall.
WEEDS seem inevitable following rains. Neglecting controls worsens the problem.
CITRUS FRUIT SPLITTlNG is due to rapid expansion of inferior, summer injured fruit.
FALL BLOOM OF CITRUS sometimes occurs particularly on growth-stressed trees.
MESOPHYLL COLLAPSE is a sudden wilt or drop of leaves provoked by weather shock to tender foliage.
FUNGUS DISEASES IN FLOWER BEDS is significantly worsened by over-watering and more troublesome in repeatedly planted beds. Treat with appropriate fungicides.
WORMS IN VEGETABLE & FLOWER GARDENS necessitate an attentive vigil and prompt controls. Bacillus thuringiensis  is effective.
FUNGUS DISEASES IN OVER-WATERED W1NTER LAWNS - Run sprinklers in the morning, only as often as necessary to maintain good growth and mow only when grass is dry to minimize spread.
SPROUTING PECAN NUTS can occur during warm fall weather. Discard, due to bitter taste.
THINGS TO DO:
COMPLETE WINTER LAWN OVERSEEDING by mid - November for best establishment.
COMPLETE MOST VEGETABLE & FLOWER GARDEN planting this month.
REDUCE WATERING FREQUENCIES to avoid drowning roots inducing root disease. and allow dormancy to occur, which makes plants more freeze resistant.
HARVEST PECANS & ALMONDS when outer husks split open and nuts loosen.
ALLOW DORMANCY TO OCCUR to increase freeze tolerance to cold tender plants.
DON'T FERTTLIZE FREEZE TENDER PLANTS until next spring.
FERTILIZE WINTER LAWNS about monthly to maintain good color. Nitrate fertilizers give best cool-season response.
PREVENT WINTER WEEDS by applying pre-emergence herbicides, before seeds sprout. Don't apply where seeds are to be planted for up to 5 months.
DON'T PRUNE TREES UNTIL JANUARY.
